FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Below are some answers to the most frequently asked questions I receive. If you have a question you do not see below, please do not hesitate to contact me and ask. It is my goal to ensure my clients feel 100% confident in their decision to hire me.
 
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
My studio is located at my home in New Ulm, MN. My studio address is 1431 11th St N, New Ulm, MN 56073. Outdoor sessions are either on location of your choice or often held in many of the local parks, including Flandrau State Park.
 

 
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
The quickest way to reach me is to email me at sara@saragostonczikphotography.com, or call me at 651-558-1640. I can usually respond within the day. If I am not available by phone immediately, please leave a message with your name and best contact number to reach you, and I will return your call as soon as possible (usually same day).
 

 
HOW SOON SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?
As soon as possible. In order to ensure you receive the best availability please call right away to reserve your desired date! For newborns, please book your session while you are pregnant.
 

 
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I BOOK MY SESSION?
After you decide to book your session with me, I will talk with you to get to know you better and discuss the types of images you would like from the session. We can discuss wardrobe options, location options, and go over any questions you might have. We can also identify the session date and time if this hasn’t already been discussed.
 

 
HOW LONG DOES THE PHOTO SESSION LAST?
Sara will take the time needed to ensure you receive the best quality images. However, here are a few guidelines as far as what to expect. Most children and family sessions last about 30-60 minutes. Little children don’t last much longer than that. Newborns can be anywhere from 2-4 hours, all depending on how baby does. Senior sessions last anywhere from 1-2 hours depending upon poses, locations, outfit changes. Individual professional portraits can be 30 minutes or less, corporate portraits are dependent upon the number of employees, and individual product shoots are also dependent upon the style and number of products.
 

 
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
For your children, please put forth your best effort to make sure your little one(s) is prepared on the day of the session. Scheduling the session around naps and meal times is suggested. For newborn prep consult our Newborn Prep Guide.
 

 
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Each session is unique and should fit your personality and style. If you are looking for something a little more creative, please let me know! I encourage you to browse through my Gallery to find examples of a style and the contrasting colors you are looking for, or for suggestions consult my What to Wear page.
 

 
CAN I BRING PROPS WITH TO MY SHOOT?
Absolutely! Bring anything you feel is important to enhance your photos. Some suggestions include: stuffed animals, sports equipment, hats, toys, special baby blankets, etc. Many times, these props won’t work or in the case of a newborn, aren’t safe to pose babies on. You are not required to bring anything though – I have many props you can select from!
 

 
WE HAVE SOME IDEAS OF OUR OWN. CAN WE TRY THEM?
Absolutely! In our pre-consultation, you can share with me or email me a shot list with examples of images and props that you like. This gives me an idea of your style. I will try to re-create a few you really love with my own personal touches. Each session is unique to you or your family.
 

 
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD IS SICK?
Please reschedule. We want you to love your images, and sick grumpy kids and photo sessions just don’t mix! I also have 2 children at home so rescheduling is greatly appreciated.
 

 
WHAT IF MY CHILD FALLS AND GETS A BUMP, BRUISE, OR SCRATCH?
Please don’t cancel due to these minor injuries. Most can be edited out.
 

 
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
Weather for Photographers in Minnesota can be hard to predict. If necessary, we will reschedule you to another day. Just because it is not sunny outside, doesn’t mean you won’t get beautiful pictures. Overcast days are actually great for lighting! You can also embrace the rain and get creative with props like umbrellas, rain boots, etc.
 

 
WHEN WILL I SEE MY IMAGES?
Typical turnaround is 2 weeks. After your session your images are presented to you in a private online gallery. Your online gallery of photos will be easily accessible on any computer, mobile device or tablet. One button click and you’ll start downloading all images. You can even order prints direct from the gallery at very affordable prices. You can also send a link to all your friends and family so they too can enjoy the photos and download the ones they like of themselves.
 

 
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET?
This will depend on the type of session. I guarantee you will receive enough photos to make it difficult for you to choose your favorites.
 

ARE THEY HIGH RESOLUTION?
Absolutely.
 

 
DO WE GET THE DIGITAL FILES?
Absolutely. I think it’s important for my clients to have those files and have the ability to use, print and share them however they’d like.
 

 
DO I HAVE TO ORDER PRINTS THROUGH YOU?
Nope. You can download and order your prints wherever you would like. If you like things that are convenient and easy you’ll love the print order system built directly into the gallery though. Prices are extremely affordable and the prints are printed through one of the world’s best production facilities that specializes in professional prints and delivered direct to your home in just a few days. So if you want to do it yourself you can, but if you like it easy I’ve made that possible for you as well.
 

 
WHEN PRINTING YOUR OWN IMAGES
Please know that depending on your finish size there will be cropping that occurs. Please be mindful before placing your order, there may also be color shifts that occur at third party printers. Sara Gostonczik Photography is not responsible for images printed through third party print labs.
 

 
DO YOU OFFER GIFT CERTIFICATES?
Absolutely! Gift certificates can be purchased for any denomination, and can be mailed out either to the purchaser or directly to a recipient as a gift.
 

 
ARE YOUR PRICES LISTED ONLINE?
Price is one of the top questions people ask me about. I believe that choosing a photographer based on price often leads to disappointment. I would love to speak with you about your session and provide you more information based on what type of session you are looking to have.
